How many times can you fall in love?

Rahul from KKHH would say " Hum jite ek baar hain, marte ek baar hain, shaadi bhi ek hi baar hoti hai, aur pyaar....pyaar bhi ek hi baar hota hai."

I don't agree.

Why hasn't smart a** Rahul, considered that probably you can fall in love a good number of times, not necessarily romantically, and not necessarily with different people. I've always wondered, suppose you love someone, not dearly, but you do love them, and on one fine day, the special someone, does something, well...err...special for you, woudn't your degree of love increase? So, does that mean you're falling in love with the person all over again, and this time more deeply?

I would definitely like to think so.

Falling in love, with the same person multiple number of times is ofcourse possible, our Rahul from KKHH is a big example. Contrary to his own belief, he falls in love with Anjali unknowingly, falls in love with Tina, and again realises and falls in love with Anjali.

So we can conclude that falling in love with the same person again is possible.

Next, the prospect of being in love with people you're not romantically involved with. It can be a very special friend, a very special cousin, your siblings, your parents, and so on. I fail to see, why these relationships are not often counted as love by people. Well, why not! You love them don't you? So yes, you can be in love with more than one person at one said time.

Love is divine. Love is beautiful. Love is for people to spread around, and not let it rot with one person alone.

How many times can you fall in love? As many times as you want to.Period.

Deaths for Coronation?

It's been more than a week. but the papers are full of the same news over and over again. One for example read. " DEATH TOLL CLIMBS TO 300 OVER YSR'S DEATH".

Are you sympathetic?

I say, Give me a break dude! And what's worse, People are killing themselves for YSR's Son, Jagan to be given the power chair.

What is wrong with our state? People are dying, i agree, many are suicides, but i smell some skulduggery. In the world of today, where the son and father are very much capable of killing each other for the sake of property, where does this phenomenon walk in?

How many of us have heard that a family member has died of shock or committed suicide over a relative's death? Rare isn't it? So, why would a man/woman kill themselves for the sake of an unrelated leader, no matter how motivational he might have been?

In my opinion, these are just falsified instances which are being cited. People may have really died, but the reasons given for them might not be true. Completely unlinked deaths are being linked to YSR, for very obvious political reasons. It's easy to silence the families of the dead ones, some money paid as compensation for using the names!

Why is it that none of the MPs, or MLAs or Collectors have killed themselves for YSR? Only the 'unnamed citizen' is affected, only he is a true follower of YSR. Are we to believe so?

This makes me question, what kind of a society do we live in?

A place where the death of a leader is used as a brilliant political startegy.

The man is dead, and he was a great one, no doubt. But let him rest in peace. The man who wanted to see our state prosperous always, wouldn't have wanted so many deaths/suicides to his name.

Also, Why should Jagan be made the CM? just because Rajiv Gandhi was made the PM after Indira Gandhi? Then it should also be true, that a doctor's son, should be automatically accepted as a doctor, even if he is professionally qualified as an engineer and vice-versa! We would be living in utter chaos then.

Politics is truly at a new, never before seen level of disgust.

Dheera Dheera Magadheera !

I must admit that i had booked tickets for this movie half-heartedly. Simply wanted to see it to pass time. I'm no fan of Ram Charan, though i believe that he is quite a good dancer.
The after experience of the movie however completely changed my perception of both Ram Charan and Telugu Cinema in general.

Wow ! What a movie! Its got style!
Wondering why ? I give you five reasons to check out this flick in your nearest theatre.

  • Wonderful Special effects:

Though it is no Matrix or Gladiator or 300. It is definitely the best we have seen till now in Telugu Cinema. Really amazing animation, the scenes of the kingdom, and its architecture are truly awesome.

  • Good Music:

Have to hand it over to Keeravani for this. I should say that recreation of the song 'bangaru kodi petta' is fabulous. 'Panchadara Bomma' and ' Dheera Dheera' are good. Ofcourse, the song 'bagundi' is a dud. But the other songs make up for this one. Background score is also decent.

  • Great Screenplay and Direction:

Kudos to Rajamouli, every detail has been taken care of very well. The narrative technique is good. Details have been parted with on the screen at the right time, in the perfect manner. Like the beginning of the movie, with only glimpses of what is yet to come, and what has gone by, is very innovative.

  • Great Performances:

Charan has given a wonderful performance in this one. He has improved a lot from his first movie. Be it in his dancing or expressions. He still does need to work on his diction of Telugu, and the dialogue delivery is a bit unclear. Kudos to this Horse riding! He has done marvellous job. even his Dance is superb, and very natural. In these two arenas seems like he has surpassed his father. Kajal Aggarwal is also good, and this time, does more than simply smiling or glancing around. Dev Gil has also put up a very good show, and truly makes a shiver run down your spine. Even though Srihari has a very less screen time, he has done a great job in two completely opposite characters in the same movie.

  • Chiranjeevi!

Last but in no way the least Chiranjeevi ! He has but 5 minutes of screen time, but he doesn't fail to charm us even today. You're pleading to him after that, asking him to quit politics and get back to the silver screen.

Well, there you have it. A great movie, a surely the birth of better Telugu cinema.

Love you more than..

Love you more that words can say,
your presence makes me feel so gay,

You taught me to love with all my heart,
So much that its now impossible to part.

I love you in more ways that i can count,
But if i do, i know it'll amount,

more than the distance between the earth and the space,
more than the scent of roses in a vase,

Like the immeasurable water in the ocean,
like none created by even the most powerful potion,

Life is life to me if lived,
with you beside me, or equal to dead.

Love you more that words can say,
your presence makes me feel so gay.

On a date with a Damsel...

Ashrita Vemuganti is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and a budding artist in the performing field. She is a senior disciple of the world-renowned Bharatanatyam exponent Smt. Rajeswari Sainath, director of Shruthi Laya Kendra Natarajaalaya [SLKN]. In the last decade, she has given more than 70 performances at various stages, both solo and group. In June 2007, she made her international debut at the Indian High Commission, Malaysia. Recently, she was selected all over India as one of the SPICMACAY scholars. She has a certificate course, both in Carnatic music and dance. Being a senior student of SLKN, she now trains a batch of beginners and actively choreographs ballets at the college level.
A highly meritorious student throughout her school and college, she has won trophies for being the best-all rounder, best student and so on. In the last 5 years, she has won more than 50 prizes in academic, literary and cultural competitions. She is currently pursuing bachelors in Psychology from St. Francis Degree College for Women. She wants to make the best use of her multi-faceted personality to spread awareness about Indian art, discuss burning issues and create an impact on the youth.

Q. How did your journey with Bharatnatyam begin?

A: When I was around three or four, my Mum saw me grooving to these bollywood numbers and she thought that I had this ‘thing’ for dance. And that’s how we came to know about a teacher who lived in the nearby colony and got started.

Q. Why did you choose Bharatnatyam and not any other form of dance?

A: Initially, till I was about ten or twelve, it didn’t really strike me, that what I was learning was Bharatnatyam. It also happened that I went through a phase when I would any day prefer a Madhuri Dixit number to doing a Jathiswaram or Allaripu. But I could say that since the past two years, I have realised the importance of getting back our culture. It is so pleasing to know that one would enjoy a fast bollywood number for a day or two and forget it the next, but not an excellent performance.

Q. How important a role does your family play in your success?

A: My world starts and ends with my Mum. It’s very important for my family to be supportive. If they hadn’t said ‘yes’ to every single milestone of mine, I wouldn’t have been able to do many things.

Q. Tell us more about your Guru, and also do tell us which feature of hers inspires you the most.

A: I’ve been lucky to have trained under two Gurus. My first Guru was Smt. Priya Karthikeyan, who has now moved to Chennai. She gave me the foundation, which I believe is an extremely important part of dance. She was very good at Abhinaya, and that’s where my Abhinaya also improved. After joining my present Guru, Rajeshwari akka, the world renowned artiste, there has been no looking back. My footwork has gotten very strong. Dance is a combination of hand movements, gestures, eye movement, and as my Guru puts it, it’s a multi organ movement, and hence requires a lot of concentration.

The most striking thing about her is her dedication. It just makes you want to do more and more. And, for any student encouragement from the guru is the biggest boost and i've been extremely lucky as Akka is very supportive to all of us students.

Q. We know that you’re a multi-faceted personality yourself; you hold a certificate course in Carnatic music and Dance. So, what about Nattuvangam, are you learning that too and have you debuted on stage yet?

A: It’s been two years that I am assisting my Guru in taking classes at the Jubilee hills centre, and due to which my Nattuvangam has strengthened, but I am yet to debut on stage. I am just waiting to get on stage, sit next to the orchestra and say ‘thaiyum thatha’.

Q. In this age of CDs, DVDs and everything coming ready made, how important a role does the live orchestra play?

A: To start with, it’s thrilling to have a set of people sitting on stage and playing. Music is very soothing even the most chaotic auditorium can fall silent in a minute, if you have a striking performance with incredible music. In this age of CDs and DVDs, if the sound system goes bad, it can be quite detrimental to the performance. But if the recording and sound system is good, then its okay, but nothing matches the live orchestra.

Q. You’re the winner of a Dance reality show on TV, so how doe feel to be on TV? Is it different from giving a live performance?

A: The process of going to another state and competing with the dancers of that state was truly exciting. We never paid any attention to the camera rolling or the anchor speaking, all we were bothered about was our performance on stage; in other words, it was no different from a live performance. Only after everything was over that we realised that it was a TV show. When it came to doing my bit, my dance was all that mattered to me.

Q. You made your international debut at the Indian High Commission, Malaysia. How did that feel and how important was it for you?

A: Speaking honestly, two years ago dance meant something else to me, now dance means much more to me. When my mother said that I was going to debut there, it sounded exciting and the experience was thrilling, but somehow my aesthetic sense was not very active then. But talking about its importance, now. I value it a lot and in a way, you can call it my defining moment.

Q. Like you said, you’re handling classes at your Jubilee hills centre, and so do you enjoy teaching?

A: I love teaching! I love dealing with youngsters. I think that young minds are the most beautiful creation of God. Not just dance, but I love conducting sessions, due to which I take part in a lot youth programs. I am there wherever I can go and make my contribution there.

Q. How did SPICMACAY happen?

A: It happened accidentally, one of my aunts, just called and said that there was an advertisement in the newspaper and that they were offering scholarships and I could learn whatever I wanted to learn. I looked through the list and saw Kathak, and all I remembered was Madhuri in Devdas. Very few got selected, and with my guru we were just four students. In order to attend this, I had to miss my diploma exams, but I felt that a diploma can happen any other time also, but not this.

Q. Be it being a meritorious student or a successful dancer, a great organiser or an enthusiastic teacher, you’ve been there and done that, how do you manage to strike the perfect balance?

A: It has a lot to do with watching my Mum, my Guru and my senior Smitha Madhav. I've seen these women, play so many different roles to perfection and that’s rubbed onto me so much. My father's multi-dimensional personality has also influenced me a lot. My Mum, who's a scientist, a doctor, a mother, all put into one, is my role model. Seeing all these people manage so many things so well, makes you feel like you're capable of it too. That’s what is needed for a person to be capable, not the potential or talent. My study of Psychology has also changed my outlook, that’s where my mind plays a role. Just one appreciation also encourages me a lot. When you fail, you know the importance of success. Its basically just the need or desire to do it all.

Q. What are your other hobbies?

A: I love reading books, writing poetry, taking care of my dogs, meeting up old friends, watching movies (big-time bollywood fan) and I just love cleaning . I love to see cleanliness and neatness every where!

Q. What are your future plans?

A: As of now, I am in my final year of graduation in Psychology. Dance and Psychology are my priorities right now. I plan to continue pursuing my various inerests in terms of contributing to society through many channels. I want to communicate to the world with whatever I have. Visual media is very powerful, through dance ballets and dramas, through my poetry, articles and talking to young minds, going to schools and inspiring people. In short make a difference in the world through my art form. It’s so divine and powerful. I am very grateful to all my teachers, and don't have any regrets in my life.
When the cause is great, the result is greater. I want to keep my cause very humble, and I expect the results to be so.

Coffee=Bankcrupcy!

The Company which ‘kept rolling’ through the two world wars, the great depression and the 9/11 attacks, finally met its match this Monday.

General Motors was founded in 1908, and manufactures cars and trucks across 34 countries.

Today, America’s largest Car manufacturer, GM, filed for bankruptcy protection under chapter 11 in the New York Court. This is the fourth-largest collapse in American corporate history, preceded by Lehman Brothers, Washington Mutual and WorldCom.

It is the largest crash yet for a company of the Industrial sector. It has $172.8bn in debt and about $82bn in assets. The giant is being provided assistance by the American treasury and Canada.

The New York stock exchange announced that the stocks of GM would be taken off the charts before trading began this morning. GM saw it’s lowest in 70years, when the value of its stock hit 27cents.

This surely does betray the ‘balancing on the borderline’ situation that GM is facing. It is indeed unbelievable that a company of its magnitude and importance could face such a situation. But the past one year of other bankruptcies, including, the most recent sale of Chrysler to the Italian Fiat, shows that nothing is impossible anymore.

GM believes that, like a Phoenix rising from its ashes, it too, will be able to boomerang back into the market with lesser debts and operating costs, which will help it become stronger than it is now. It is expected that the whole process would be completed within 60-90 days.

The American government will now hold 60%, Canadian government will hold 12.5%, and United Auto Workers will hold 17.5% and the bond holders will hold 10% stake of the resurrected GM.

It is expected to shut down 14 plants and retool one, to build small cars. The brands will be limited to Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC.

GM assured that its Indian arm would continue work as usual and the Indian markets would not be affected. They say that the GM India dealers, warranty and customer services will remain unaffected.

This crash has been on its way for a long time, it’s just that the beans are spilled now. It is impossible that a firm run into bankruptcy overnight. Bankruptcy is like a well brewed coffee, it cannot happen in a jiffy.

Even the beginning with Lehman brothers, and others, the phenomenon had been gnawing at their insides for a long time, probably as early as late 2006. It is more or less the same with GM, just that President Obama’s timely ‘push’ into bankruptcy, had made the impact less harsh.

Now, everything depends more or less on the response of the general public to GM, whatever pieces have already been manufactured is being offered as buyouts. The question of how the public will react to this crash and consequently to GM, will pen down its destiny.

The general public is already wary of its investments; the fall of GM may just add to their fears and dampen spirits.

Is the sun rising or setting for the American automobile industry?

Excitement over an empty box

I've heard this being said like a billion times by most of the elders around me, but experience taught me this lesson, just a couple of hours back. This might just get a bit too philosophical, but please bear with me!Purely a work of fiction, bears no resemblance to any emotion existing or non-existing. No offence intended.

Expectation leads to disappointment...

I'm such a spoilt brat that 'no' is the word i have rarely heard. Owing to this phenomenon in my life, never has it happened that i have not received what I've expected. God also added to this miserable plight of mine by bestowing me with amazing brains. Hence i turned out to be pretty brilliant in the academic arena and even there, my expectations seldom failed to yield.

Now comes the twist in my misery. There entered an anomaly into my life, which decided, that 'no' must be the only word that i must hear henceforth. So, this lead to a drastic change in my till now miserable boring yet beautiful life. I was forced to hear that two letter word as often as a zillion times every nanosecond. I was doomed. I wished that I'd be blessed with Surya's case of short term memory loss, so that i forgot the negations i was being subjected to. But again the divine intervention had other plans. HE, unfortunately gave me a brilliant super cool memory which a super computer would kill to acquire. I was condemned to remember every single instance that i had been denied something.

This lead to me leaving the company of my senses every time this wretched word was uttered. I began losing my temper every time i heard it. My Anger was forever ready to gobble up unsuspecting people who refused to satisfy my horde of expectations. But, whenever i felt anger, i felt drained, tired, lost and even guilty at times. It was a scary situation for a person of my calibre and intelligence. This anger, guilt, loss of energy, built up so much tension in me, that i finally burst and ended up in the dumps of disappointment. Disappointed with everything that was happening. Finally, even disappointed with disappointment itself.

Then it struck me. Its all the fault of these expectations. Too much of thought and energy had been channelised into forming and again deforming expectations and hence according to the laws governing the transfer of energies, the anger, guilt and loss of energy were the outcomes, finally ending in disappointment. So, the root cause of my entire misery was the expectation, i decided to ask it to take the boot. It wasn't leading me anyplace, but was just propelling me deeper and deeper into the dungeons of disappointment. This acted like a seat under the Bodhi tree, and realisation finally dawned.

Get rid of expectation from your dictionary and along with it no, anger, guilt, energy loss and disappointment too will gleefully walk out.

Is that all?

'What?'

'No joke. Absolutely true, haven't you watched the news?'

'You must be kidding me, this can't be true! I did read a couple of days back that he was speculating, but I didn't think it was happening.'

'No da, I'm not. If you don't believe me, go watch the news.'

'Oh my God! Our country is going to dogs...no..not going to dogs..its worse than that. I can't believe people are letting this happen to them!'

'See, no matter what people like you and me think, what has to happen will keep happenning in our country.'

' I know that, but still, its outrageous! He's the same man who was convicted of selling the pride our nation and today he's on his way to occupying a seat of authority. Isn't there any kind of criteria for joining a political party? You just have to be Indian, seems like more than enough.'

'I agree. A man who couldn't belong to his country's cricket team cannot belong to any political party either.I could bet that such a man is up to no good, except his own. But, like you've said, ours is a country, where, even a dacoit like Phoolan Devi can become the Home minister!'

'You know, in fact I have a feeling, that people like us should come forward and do something about it. Even if we cannot stand for an election and win, we can at least educate the masses. You understand right? Come election time and these politicians make long flattering speeches, and the common man is floored. He is provided with packets of chicken biriyani and liquor, and he'll be ready to vote for even a pig! We can educate them and prevent them from falling for these vote-collection tricks.'

'You mean the 'Yuva' style?'

'Absolutely.'

'Actually, we should rally for some criteria to be brought in, to both create and join a political party. We should fight for a set of rules to be brought in to have the right kind of political people to vote for. Get at least the better set of leaders, so that we can vote for someone worthwhile.'

'Something like, every person who intends to enter politics should be minimum a graduate?'

'Yes, things like that.'

'The person should have no previous record of crimes against him. He should have a super-clean-glossy history. I'd like to see that happening.'

'You know, i just got this idea, the public should have the right to fire a politician if any charges are laid against him. Like in the case of the Mumbai Terror attack. Also, i think there should be an experience criteria laid down. A person should be allowed to contest in an election only if he has had previous experience of the same at a lower level.'

'Wow, all this sounds so wonderful! wish we could actually do something on these lines.'

'Wish we could make it come true, then we wouldn't be living in a garbage dump like we are today.'

Journey

No matter how hard,
the path that life chooses,
we'll dare to tread on it,
fulfil destiny without losses.

These journeys I promise,
we shall embark on together,
I shall give you love and hope,
And you shall shower more love than love giveth.

Such will be an adventure,
Life to us,
We shall fulfil, my love
we shall fulfil.
